Lower Manya Krobo Municipality
The lower Manya Krobo municipal (LMKM) is one of the 26 administrative districts in the eastern region of Ghana. The municipality came into existence as a result of the split of the then Manya Krobo District into Lower and Upper Manya Krobo in 2008. It was elevated to a Municipality status in July 2012 by a legislative instrument (L.I) 4026 with Odumase Krobo as it's capital.
The Municipality is strategically located at the Eastern corner of the Eastern Region of Ghana and lies between latitudes -6.2 -6.5 N and Longitudes -3.0 -0.0W of the greenwich Meridian with an altitude of 457.5m. The municipality is bounded on the North-West by Upper Manya Krobo District, on the North-East by Asuogyaman District, on the South-East by North-Tongu District and on the South by Yilo and Dangme West District.

The LMKM covers an area of 591 square kilometers constituting about 3.28% of the total land area of the Eastern region of Ghana (18,310km).
According to the 2010 population and housing census, the total population of the municipality is 89,246 which represent 3.4 percent of the total population of Eastern Region. The total Population consist of 41,470 males (46.5%) and 47,776 females(53.5%).
Dominant Economic Activity/ Agricultureal Activiy
The people of Lower Manya Krobo Municipality are mainly farmers and traders. Cereals (Maize) is the most common agricultural product found in the Municipality together with, cassava, pepper, pineapple, watermelon, sweet potatoes, plantain, yam, cocoa yam, okra, tomatoes and others.
Mangoes are also produced for export as well as for local consumption. A section of the population especially the men folk also earn their living through fishing on the Volta lake which lies at the north-Eastern part of the municipality. The municipality is endowed with natural resources like limestone and the Agomanya Market which forms the commercial center of the municipality.
We envision an educated and healthy citizenry that is conscious of its socio-economic and political rights and responsibilities.
The lower Manya Krobo municipal assembly exists to improve the quality of life of the people in the district through partnership with communities in the mobilization of financial, human and material resources for effective delivery of services.
Lower Many Krobo has an active social and hospitable atmosphere. Oduamse Krobo, the Municipal capital is a historic trading post, attracting a mix of cultures. The Municipality also accommodates some tourism potentials including beautiful landscape and scenery along the volta Lake, Extensive lake shores for development of beach resorts, Kpong Airfields, Water transport and river sport on the lake. A waterfall with rich scenery is also found at Tsledom The Krobo mountain, which is the ancestral home for Krobos is an important landmark that needs to be link to the municipal tourism development programmer.
At the Northern part of the municipality called Odugblase sits a huge limestone deposit which is currently being exploited by some corporate entities notably GHACEM.
The lower Manya Krobo Municipality, together wit it's sister district, the Yilo Krobo Municipality is one of the leading producers of Mango in the country. The Mangoes which are uniquely produced in two seasons are both consumed locally and exported.
